Saudi Pro League (Saudi Arabia)


The Saudi Pro League (SPL) is the top-tier professional football league in Saudi Arabia. Established in 1976, it has grown into one of Asia’s most competitive and financially powerful leagues, especially following the massive investment program launched in 2023.

History and facts

The Saudi Pro League was founded in 1976 and has been dominated historically by clubs such as Al-Hilal, Al-Ittihad, Al-Nassr, and Al-Ahli.

In 2023, the league became globally recognized after signing world-class stars like Cristiano Ronaldo (Al-Nassr), Karim Benzema (Al-Ittihad), Neymar Jr (Al-Hilal), Sadio Mané (Al-Nassr), Rúben Neves (Al-Hilal), and Sergej Milinković-Savić (Al-Hilal).

Saudi clubs have also succeeded in Asia, with Al-Hilal being the most successful club in AFC Champions League history.
